MEET THE SPEAKERS

Melodie Matout

Innovation & Technical Services Manager at ATSSA

Melodie Matout joined American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) in January 2021 as the Innovation & Technical Services Manager. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering at Concordia University in Montreal.

Matout’s studies and career have focused on roadway safety including graduate studies in connected and automated vehicles and work as a road safety engineer at the Quebec Ministry of Transports. Prior to joining ATSSA, she worked at Leidos in northern Virginia where she supported the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and District Department of Transportation (DDOT) projects related to safety, operations, human factors and asset management. She also served as project manager and provided technical support for FHWA’s Work Zone Safety Grant.

Matout is currently working on her doctoral studies in civil engineering at Virginia Tech on connected and automated vehicle (CAV) simulation and data. She is fluent in three languages — English, French and Arabic.

James Weatherall

Executive Vice President at Traffic Logix

James Weatherall is the Executive Vice President for Logix group, an ITS company based out of Montreal Canada. Logix is an OEM delivering both hardware and software solutions into the intelligent transportation and parking markets with offices in Canada, United States, Mexico, Ukraine and India. James has 20 years experience in the ITS sector and was one of the original founders of Logix in 2004. He has a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University and EMBA from McGill university.

Ryan Jenkins

Anchor and Enterprise Reporter at TMJ4 News

Ryan Jenkins an Anchor and Enterprise Reporter for TMJ4 News, the NBC-affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He currently leads TMJ4's weekend evening newscasts.

Ryan digs deep into hot-button issues as an enterprise reporter. He produces weekly in-depth pieces that seek and share solutions to problems impacting residents of southeast Wisconsin and is currently a reporter helping to lead Project: Drive Safer, TMJ4's year-long effort to combat reckless driving.

Ryan is new to Wisconsin, but not the Midwest; he was born in Elgin, Illinois. He comes to TMJ4 after spending time in the Illinois/Iowa "Quad Cities" as a Multimedia Journalist and Fill-In Anchor at WQAD-TV. He covered the historic flood of 2019, the race leading up to the 2020 presidential election, and the 2018 gubernatorial race in Illinois.

Passionate about storytelling, inclusion, diversity, and representation across multiple platforms, Ryan’s love for news stems from a desire to better understand and connect with the people in the community around him.
