TAPCO partners with NISH & Milwaukee Center for Independence

NISH (National Institute of the Severely Handicapped) helped introduce Milwaukee area based business, TAPCO (Traffic & Parking Control Co., Inc.) to local nonprofit agencies whose trained staffs have a wide range of disabilities and unique talents. TAPCO manufactures, distributes and services a wide range of lifesaving products for the transportation industry. TAPCO is most known for its Blinker™ line of solar powered and wirelessly activated IWS (Intelligent Warning Systems) signs. These systems help keep motorists and pedestrians safe.

A specific scope of work was defined by TAPCO and a formal bid process was completed. TAPCO then reviewed and evaluated agencies' ability to complete the requested work. After a careful evaluation of bids, TAPCO selected to partner with MCFI (Milwaukee Center for Independence).

MCFI provides trainees with work place skills that are later applied to meet manufacturer's needs. The MCFI labor force is local and can be fully mobilized quickly and readily. MCFI has provided TAPCO with a flexible and trained staff that can provide added manufacturing help when it's needed the most. With the help of NISH and its partners like MCFI, TAPCO is now able to meet seasonal market demands on an "as needed" basis.
