Radio Frequency Identification
Radio Frequency Identification (RFI, RFID) is a technology similar in theory to bar code identification. With RFID, the electromagnetic or electrostatic coupling in the RF portion of the electromagnetic spectrum is used to transmit signals. An RFID system consists of an antenna and a transceiver, which read the radio frequency and. transfer the information to a processing device, and a transponder, or tag, which is an integrated circuit containing the RF circuitry and information to be transmitted. One of the key differences between RFID and bar code technology is RFID eliminates the need for line-of- sight reading that bar coding depends on.

RFID consists of a matching transmitter and receiver (complete with antenna wire and power supply). The devices work in conjunction with standard lane equipment, eliminating the need to set-up separate lanes for radio activated vehicles only, making the system a suitable addition for emergency vehicles or for executive use. The multiple combinations possible provide you with the security of a private code setting for your application.
