| PARKING LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION FROM TAPCO |
License Plate Recognition (LPR) The License Plate Recognition (LPR) System offers the advantage of capturing an image- record of the vehicle's license plate in real time, which helps prevent ticket swapping, lost ticket issues, and other fraud. The system includes license plate capture cameras and a controller handling two lanes. The unique "plate finder" technology locates and selects the best image as a vehicle passes through the field-of-view. External trigger inputs are provided for each lane by using a controller with embedded software which allows the system to operate in environments too harsh for standard PCs. The system integrates into our parking technology with our parking management software package, ScanNet, to control and monitor activities within your parking facility. Using our SST Ticket Spitter and SST Exit Verifier, you then have the hardware to transmit information to the parking management software, where you can produce a variety of reports on all the components which make up your parking network. |

Portable Automated License Plate Recognition System The location of a vehicle within the facility is associated with a particular camera positioned at that location. These cameras provide retro-reflection from license plates and the subsequent capture of an image but the system is not limited to any particular type of camera or imaging wavelength. A PIPS microprocessor provides Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and a means of displaying and mathematically matching and manipulating the captured information and a method to display and interrogate the results. By using PIPS Technology Cameras, an overview image of each vehicle can also be recorded in the system at those locations were it is required. It is important to note that the video image-processing component of the system may be deployed as a central system or as a distributed system rather than central. The system will provide a facility with the following capabilities: 1. An inventory of all registered users so they can gain access to the site with a minimum of delay. 2. The ability, at the Security Gate or Portal, to add visitors and others with limitations on duration of stay and zone or sector access. 3. The ability to measure speed using Time Over Distance (TOD) methodology. This includes the ability to identify those vehicles that exceeded the speed limit between camera nodes on site and those that took longer then expected between camera nodes. The latter could cause a breach of security as someone could, for instance, have stopped to take photographs of a sensitive site or deployed material that eluded the initial security check. |
