| PARKING CARD READERS FROM TAPCO |
Card Reader Technologies Card reader systems offer you a choice of reader technologies for your access control needs. Use wherever entry control and the need to monitor individual activity within restricted areas is needed, including office buildings, manufacturing plants, retail shops, mini-storage facilities, parking facilities, and more. Choose from a number of Reader Technologies to best suit your needs, including Insertion, Proximity, Magnetic Stripe, Bar Code and Wiegand Swipe. |

Passport 360° Card Reader System The Passport 360 reader can be linked as part of a computerized, online facility management system, or used as a stand-alone device. The intelligent reader gives you the security you need with an advanced distribution processing architecture, ensuring continual and independent operations at all times. Decisions such as ill status, time zones, and issue levels are made at the reader and do not require external memory. This versatile reader system offers the advantage of centralized computer control. By using our ScanNet Central Management System, you can create, store, send, and retrieve all programming from a central desktop computer. With simple keyboard commands, you can track monthly patrons, while controlling access to certain areas, lots, and even entire buildings. |
|
You can send commands to generate a remote vend, set the antipassback mode, resync a single card passback status, and automatically resync all cards on a daily basis. Real-time activity reports can be printed from a central computer. The Passport 360 Card Reader functions offline for stand-alone operation, or online with ScanNet for host-based operation. Programming can be accomplished by using our ScanNet Central Management System or with a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). With the PDA, you can load and store all programming information directly on the handheld and transfer that information to other readers. Processing and storing of information can be done locally. |

Barium Ferrite Card Reader Ideal for high-volume, high-turnover applications, this system is based on economical and reliable barium ferrite technology., making duplication and counterfeiting difficult. Unlike other card surface technologies, the embedded barium ferrite is not susceptible to wear. Millions of unique codes can be created. When the card is inserted into the reader, a magnetic head with non-moving sensor coils read the encoded data for identification purposes. The sensors will read through most dirt and contaminants associated with normal card handling, resulting in minimal required maintenance. |

Magnetic Stripe Readers: Insertion and Swipe Identification cards use a polyester material with a high coercivity magnetic stripe. This material prevents inadvertent or malicious alterations and is immune from accidental erasure. Ordinary magnetic fields will not erase this material, even in contact. Magnetic stripe is capable of storing large amounts of information in a small area. Because it's magnetic, it cannot be photocopied or duplicated through optical means and common contaminants have little effect on the readability of the data. |

Bar Code Readers The specific arrangement of bars and spaces follows strict rules defined by the specific bar code "language," known as symbology, being used. Code 3 of 9, an alphanumeric symbology, is used with the bar code Passport Plus Card Readers. Passport Plus bar code readers (or scanners) use fixed infrared LED light sources to read the symbol. A special blocking agent can be laminated onto the card to inhibit or prevent photocopying the bar code label. This blocking agent conceals the entire label, making it readable only by an infrared bar code reader. |

Wiegand Swipe Readers |
When the card is exposed to a changing magnetic field, it induces a strong, discrete electrical output in a small pick-up coil located nearby. Wire location in the code strip determines whether the output signal is read as a "one" or a "zero" in the binary code. The Wiegand Effect pulse generating technology is immune to stray magnetic fields, radio interference, and other external influences. Code strips are factory encoded and buried within the card, making duplication or counterfeiting virtually impossible. The unique characteristics of the Wiegand technology permits construction of maintenance-free readers impervious to all environmental conditions - including rain, snow, sleet, heat, and cold. |
